Things got a little less exciting after the huge win at Texas as the Tigers had fellow in-state opponent Northwestern State travel down to play in Death Valley. LSU put a complete rout on them, defeating the inferior foe 65-14, despite having a bit of a shaky start to the game. Senior quarterback Joe Burrow slung the ball around for another 373 yards passing, which is keeping him atop that stat as the leading passer in the nation. LSU managed to get a lot of back-up players some substantial playing time as the game was never really close. Back up quarterback and heir to the thrown, Myles Brennan played almost the whole second half while completing eight of nine passes for 115 yards. LSU also got some valuable carries for their young running back core. Even though they had the opportunity to get a lot of different guys on the field, they were without a couple key defensive players and star wide receiver Jamaar Chase. There was a lot of speculation into this being a disciplinary thing rather than injury, lets hope so because the Tigers cannot afford to lose key on-field leadership to injury. If they broke some rules, LSU does a good job of handling all of that in house and finding fair punishment. My opinion would be that it is better for that to happen early on in the season versus down the road when we are playing tougher competition in our SEC schedule. We hope to see those guys back on the field soon helping lead the team to victory.
There is not much to be said about this week’s game because of the lack of competition. Looking forward to next week the Tigers travel to Nashville, Tennessee to take on their first SEC opponent in the Vanderbilt Commodores. Vanderbilt is probably one of the weakest teams in the conference but you never want to under estimate an opponent especially when you are the visiting team and in SEC play. As long as they come out and play like they have the first three weeks I don’t think LSU will have any problems. I am going to try my best to make the trip up to Nashville to catch the game! We are looking forward to another great week ahead, full of football and good times! The Tigers are on a roll at 3-0, lets keep it going!!
